The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band
Unlike the name suggests, The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band is no more than a trio. They sound like Robert Johnson on crack and turn a devil sound from their sleeve with just an acoustic guitar, a washboard and a snare drum. Their catchy hillbilly and country blues, influenced by ancient legends as Son House and Furry Lewis, has something of punk rock avant la lettre, raw, exciting and swinging. The band is a family initiative and consists of Reverend Peyton (guitar), his wife Breezy Peyton (washboard) and brother Jayme Peyton (snare drums). Under the motto "we'd better tour if we want to spread our music, because we never get the radio," the group travels around non-stop and really plays everywhere in bluescafes but also opening for the Irish band Flogging Molly. With their edgy sound and straightaway songs about everyday worries as Can not Pay The Bill en Your Cousin's On Cops, they might immediately win your heart.
